Year 6 Leavers Service at St Mark's Church

At the end of the Summer Term, the whole school walked up to St Mark's Church, Tunbridge Wells to celebrate the end of the academic year and the achievements of our Year 6 pupils. The church service was led by Rev. Claire and supported by members of the St Mark's congregation. 

The service focused on the idea of pilgrimage, a journey to a new place and this was linked to the idea of Year 6 moving on in their academic journey to new schools. Rev. Claire, with her rucksack on her back, unpicked what it means to go on a new journey and what we need to help us along the way. She focused on our Christian values as a school and that as we journey to new places, we should use God as our compass to guide us and steer us in the right direction. 

Our Year 6 Head Pupils read Philippians Chapter 4 vs 5 -9, we sang the hymns 'One More Step Along the World I Go', 'God Behind, God Beside, God Ahead' and the motivational song 'You Raise Me Up.'  Year 6 children shared their favourite memories of the time at St Mark's, we watched a photo montage of the Year 6 pupils now and when they started at St Mark's and the Year 6 leavers also stood at the front and sung the song Unwritten by Natasha Beddingfield.

It was lovely to have so many parents join us in church to celebrate the end of the year and the journey our Year 6 children are embarking on as they move onto secondary school in September.
